Blogs attract and engage internet users

Blogs are a great way of attracting visitors to websites, while also offering brand marketing opportunities through relevant content.

A new study by comScore subsidiary Japan KK found more than eight in ten internet users in Japan access blogs, with the typical individual reading blogs for more than an hour each month.

Commenting on the statistics, Daizo Nishitani, president of comScore Japan KK, said these internet users are "highly engaged" on the sites where they read blogs.

"Blogging has historically been a popular internet activity, as the opportunity to interact anonymously appealed to many online users," he stated.

Corporate blogs can be a key part of a successful content strategy. Hosting a blog can have a positive knock-on effective for search, as websites with regularly updating content are seen to offer more value to visitors.

In addition, a well-written blog can be essential for online marketing as key messages can be conveyed in a friendly, personal manner.
