Online auction site uBid.com has announced a major redevelopment of its web presence to allow it to adopt search engine optimisation (SEO) best practices.
It reports that online marketers face a daunting task when it comes to reaching appropriate customers but that search engine marketing has become a good indicator of online purchase intent.
Jeff Hoffman, chief executive of uBid.com, commented: "uBid.com is in the business of harvesting consumer demand to guide our product offerings. So embracing SEO is a necessary step in our evolution as an online seller-solutions provider."
The auction site has been working with SEO Logic, a division of Mir Internet Marketing, which claims marketers are starting to recognise the potential SEO has for increasing the attention paid to a web site.
Marketers can realise a "big payoff" just by making their existing information more search-engine friendly, it advised.
SEO Logic suggests marketers use methods such as featuring key words prominently on the website, for example in headers.
