The growth of digital platforms has "transformed" the ways in which firms market themselves, an expert has asserted.

Industry commentator Verity Gough made her comments in an article for information resource businesszone.co.uk, remarking that any firm "worth its salt" requires an active online presence.

"Although traditional media channels such as direct mail, telephone marketing and print adverts have a huge impact on brand awareness, for the budget conscious, nothing can beat the internet," she continued.

Tactics such as search engine optimisation and marketing, newsletters and banner advertising can all drive users to a website, Ms Gough stated.

Furthermore, tools such as Google Analytics can allow a marketer to monitor what medium brought the user to the page and where they then navigate to within the site, she added.

Google Analytics recently announced it was to rollout news benchmarking reports, which allow firms to view context on their data using industry verticals.ADNFCR-1351-ID-18524499-ADNFCR
