Online marketers will take keen note of a new survey showing online shopping figures are increasing in the UK in the run-up to Christmas.
The comScore research found that online shopping traffic is up by 23 per cent in the third week of November when compared to the base rate for the whole of October.
Bob Ivins, comScore European vice president of European markets, said marketers should be aware that online shopping is among the most popular of internet activites.
He added: "Over the next few weeks, we would not expect to see a huge increase in the number of online shoppers - they are already there - accounting for 70 per cent of the total European online population.
"But what we will see is a significant increase in the frequency of shopping online and an increase in the conversion of browsers to buyers, which ultimately means more online sales this Christmas."
The recent comScore Christmas Shopping Survey showed that some 30 per cent of UK respondents planned to begin their festive shopping in the first two weeks of November.
