There are now more British women using the internet than their male counterparts, a new report has discovered.
Research conducted by online resource
eMarketer has revealed that female users currently account for 50.5 per cent of those spending time online.
However, the report predicted that by 2012, 51.3 per cent of British internet users will be women.
The study also revealed that many such browsers are women aged between 18 and 34.
"Although they make up 21.3 per cent of the UK female population in 2008, they account for 35 per cent of the female population online and spend more time online than males their age," eMarketer noticed.
This could be good news for search engine giant Yahoo! which recently announced its launch of new website
Shine which will be aimed at women.
It will be targeted towards women aged between 25 and 54 and offers content ranging from fashion and beauty to parenting.
