New media firm KMP Associates has recently revamped Chester Zoo's online presence, using a social media platform to engage visitors with the website.

The company has recently completed a nine month "overhaul" of the site in which it developed a content management system which allows visitors to upload and share photographs of the attraction.

Additionally, KMP Associates have developed the website to allow staff to easily upload content.

Bill Daring, chairman of the media company, said one of the biggest challenges of the project was developing the Web 2.0 possibilities of the Chester Zoo website.

"We're already looking to work together further as part of an ongoing marketing strategy, to include Web 2.0 marketing, viral emails, videos, email marketing and blogging," he explained.

The company claims that a corporate blog is a good way for firms to reach out directly to their customers.

It states that such a strategy has many benefits, including brand development, corporate insight and crisis management, which can be delivered with a personal tone.
