Online retailers continue to experience high sales, despite the gloomy economy, it is reported.
Research conducted by Maginus suggests more than three-quarters of web-based retailers have increased their sales over the last year, Retail Bulletin notes.
The study finds almost half of respondents claim their sales have risen by more than a fifth.
Russell Dorset, the sales and marketing director at Maginus, tells the publication the growth of the web shows no sign of slowing.
He urges: "Consumers have so much choice available to them that retailers must make sure they offer customers the choice of shopping via multiple channels so they can buy their goods in their preferred way."
Last month, Neil Munroe, the external affairs director at Equifax, argued retailers should use the web more as it is extremely cost-effective.
However, he warned many smaller companies are failing to embrace all the opportunities presented by the internet.
