Expert tips: extending link building campaigns

Businesses looking to give their link building campaigns a boost may want to heed the latest advice of one expert.

According to Nichola Stott of theMediaFlow, writing in a post for Search Engine Watch, cultivating relationships with relevant industry figures is the key to link building success.

Recommending that companies thoroughly research journalists in their industry, she suggests once this has been done businesses will have a good idea of who best to forge a relationship with.

She notes that being pushy is likely to mean a company is ignored - and so simply sending relevant press releases or calling with additional information should suffice in the early stages.

Meanwhile, Ms Stott also warns that occasionally firms may receive a citation rather than a link - in this case, she says it is best not to ask for this to be changed, as doing so may damage the relationship.

Instead, it should be seen as an opportunity to further the connection.
