Google was the main provider of mobile search during the first three months of 2008, a new report shows.
Research published by Nielson illustrates that Google and Yahoo! are the current leaders of mobile search, with 61 per cent and 18 per cent of traffic respectively.
MSN comes third, with five per cent of the mobile internet search market.
Furthermore, the research shows that Google users are more satisfied than those accessing Yahoo! through their handsets.
It notes that "44 per cent of Google users rate their satisfaction with mobile internet search between eight to ten on a ten-point scale, compared to 40 per cent of Yahoo! searchers".
Last week, James Watts, one of Google's software engineers, commented through the search giant's dedicated blog that the mobile homepage has been updated to make it faster to upload.
This is achieved by caching the website on the phone, meaning returning to the site via a bookmark is "almost instantaneous".
He asserted that Google is "obsessed" with speeding up mobile search.
