A new report has revealed that Google is continuing to dominate the search space on the mobile web.
The study by browser maker Opera Software showed that the search engine accounted for over nine per cent of all mobile internet page views in the US last month.
Yahoo! had a 4.3 per cent share, with Bing only managing 0.03 per cent.
In the UK, search represented 9.7 per cent of all page views, with Google accounting for 7.2 per cent and Yahoo! 2.5 per cent - indicating that Google may still need to be the focus of mobile search engine optimisation campaigns.
"Search and social networking are the twin pillars of mobile web use worldwide," remarked Jon von Tetzchner, co-founder of Opera Software.
The company's Opera Mini browser now has more than 50 million active users globally, it was revealed earlier this month.
This represents a 150 per cent increase compared with a year ago.
