Engaging in mobile marketing is a highly viable way of generating new online leads for businesses, it has been suggested.

According to Advertising Age, mobile's ubiquity means it is the "natural" way to enhance lead generation activities for firms.

Certain sectors could benefit more from lead generation campaigns employing mobile marketing than other industries, with statistics from AdMob suggesting that the motor manufacturing sector could be one of these.

Mobile ads placed by automotive firms tend to have a click-through rate of up to 5.5 per cent, according to the mobile ad marketplace.

Speaking to Advertising Age, Kia Motors customer relations marketing manager Dave Schoonover said mobile ads allow the company to be wherever the consumer is whenever they want to find out more about the brand.

He stated: "For us, it's not enough to just deliver a brand message online, we have to enable the scenario whereby if they decide to take the next step ... they can contact a dealership."

A survey conducted by the Internet Advertising Bureau last year revealed that 62 per cent of marketers and agencies believe mobile marketing will become a standard feature of ad budgets by 2010.ADNFCR-1351-ID-18964710-ADNFCR
