Businesses across all sectors are increasingly taking up mobile marketing, according to one expert.
Sign-Up.to founder and chief executive Matt McNeil explained that the medium can work well in all industries, but is more effective in some than others.
Sectors that are particularly well-suited to mobile marketing campaigns include the consumer-focused parts of the media, entertainment and restaurant industries, he commented.
Mr McNeil went on to highlight the advantage of combining mobile marketing with other forms of online advertising.
"Running cross-media campaigns and integrating email and social media [with mobile marketing] can prove very strong," he stated.
According to the Internet Advertising Bureau, £37.6 million was spent on mobile marketing last year, up by 32 per cent compared with 2008.
This is in spite of the overall advertising industry seeing a decline in growth over the same period, the organisation's report - which was compiled in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers - suggested.
