Companies looking to take advantage of the internet must also ensure they have a presence on the mobile web.
This is the suggestion of Volantis co-founder and chief executive Mark Watson, who told bMighty that with mobile web take-up growing rapidly, "if you want to do business on the internet, you better do business on the mobile web".
He explained that in some countries mobile web penetration is higher than that of traditional broadband and said that the convenience of mobile internet access means it will become more attractive to a growing proportion of consumers in the future.
"There is a proven market out there for
mobile marketing so any company without a mobile presence is leaving money on the table," Mr Watson stated.
"If you jump into the pool, your business will be ahead of the game."
Recent statistics from the Orange Digital Media Index revealed that usage of mobile search rose by 30 per cent among the operator's UK customers last year, with local search seeing a ten per cent increase.
