The influence of blogs is developing, with nearly a quarter of journalists within Europe "regularly" quoting such online journals, a new report reveals.

According to the European Digital Journalism Study, one-third of writers in Europe admit using just blogs to source the stories they write.

This, it notes, was "more or less unheard of" three years ago.

Furthermore, journalists are no longer the only people producing content for publications, as more than 70 per cent now encourage user-generated content and almost 30 per cent accept and publish pictures from their readers.

"With the advent of the internet and widely-available broadband, journalism has experienced one of the biggest transformations in the way content is produced since the invention of electronic newspaper production," the study adds.

Recently, Chris Thomas, the boss of search engine optimisation (SEO) firm Reseo, told smArtcompany that firms which set up a corporate blog could be seen as leaders within their sector.

Furthermore, he noted that filling a blog with regular content can provide SEO benefits, helping a corporate website become more visible within search engines and receive more traffic.ADNFCR-1351-ID-18650294-ADNFCR
