Corporate blogs are developing into a new form of internet, which could replace the more traditional website, an expert claims.

Jim Fisher, president of web development agency IdeaStar, makes his comments as the firm launches its new marketing blog Spinfield.com.

He suggests that blogs are overtaking normal websites as they allow a firm to open a dialogue with consumers and browsers.

"Websites are like getting an answering machine, while blogs are like getting a great customer service rep on the phone," Mr Fisher explains.

Online journals are proactive, and can help develop and then strengthen trust, he continues.

They can help establish credibility, he adds.

Earlier this month, the European Digital Journalism Study was published, revealing that within Europe, one-third of journalists rely on blogs to source their stories.

It suggests this is the greatest change to content production since the dawn of the electronic newspaper, adding that even just three years ago such a situation was "more or less unheard of".ADNFCR-1351-ID-18655056-ADNFCR
