Many organisations find it difficult to produce sufficient content for their pages, meaning it can be hard to raise their search engine rankings, it has been suggested.
Industry commentator Lisa Barone made her remarks in an article published by web consultants
Bruce Clay, noting that for good quality content, designed to aid search engine optimisation, to be produced within a reasonable time, many firms have to turn to professional writers.
"I really think that most companies would benefit from working with a copywriter who is well-versed in search engine optimisation," she explained.
Recently, Justin Cooke, managing director of website design firm
Fortune Cookie, commented that there has been a trend to focus on a website's design and neglect its content.
He asserted that the information displayed on a website is a vital contributor to its success, noting that it has to be searchable, easily understood and in keeping with the business's brand.
Furthermore, Mr Cooke suggested, content must be written in a way which is consistent with the way the organisation presents itself elsewhere.
