Online marketers should focus on keywords and local search in order to boost their online campaigns during the first three months of 2008, a new report has claimed.

Internet marketing firm Oneupweb conducted a survey of its project managers to discover what aspects of online advertising they believe websites and brands should concentrate on.

The top ten recommended areas to focus on included social media marketing, search and keywords.

Oneupweb chief executive officer Lisa Wehr commented: "What's important is that marketers take the steps now to integrate them into their overall marketing plan. A little work up front can pay huge dividends."

Firms wishing to discover the best keywords for maximising their website's search engine placement can consult a search engine optimisation specialist or use an online tool such as Wordtracker to discover their optimum words and phrases.

Wordtracker is a London-based company with a database of more than 330 million search terms.
