Turning a website's news archive into an information source for readers can attract greater levels of traffic, RSS subscribers, inbound links and high search engine rankings, an expert has claimed.
Patrick Alcroft, director of online resource
Blogstorm, made his comments in a post via
E-consultancy, adding that it is vital news writers are used to creating compelling headlines which hook the reader in.
Furthermore, they need to be able to create interesting copy, he urged.
Mr Alcroft warned that many business news stories and press releases are "way too boring for bloggers to even read let alone write about, so you need to stand out from the crowd while remaining formal enough to keep your credibility".
Providing a news service which is read by journalists and potential clients can be useful when launching a new brand or controlling a reputation crisis, he noted.
Speaking in the past to E-consultancy, Lee Odden, president of
TopRank Online Marketing, explained that strong writers are able to write compelling and creative news and press releases while still including keywords.
