Website owners should consider offering
RSS news feeds to allow users to gain easy access to their online content, it has been suggested.
According to Alltop.com founder Guy Kawasaki, offering web users simple ways of keeping track of the latest content is a necessary element of
online marketing, along with offering
email marketing newsletters for PR purposes.
He also recommended doing away with moderated comments, calling this feature "an oxymoron" in his column for
Entrepreneur.com.
"If your company is trying to be a hip, myth-busting, hypocrisy-outing joint, it should let anyone comment," Mr Kawasaki said, going on to note that he has been previously put off from leaving comments by having to register first.
A survey conducted by Yahoo! in 2005 found that 27 per cent of web users view
RSS syndicated content on personalised start pages such as My MSN and My Yahoo!.
It said that enabling
RSS news feeds on a website can help to increase the "value proposition" of the services offered by that site.
