Social media integration is crucial

It is imperative that firms employing Twitter and other social networks as part of their marketing strategies integrate it with the other channels they are using in order to maximise its effectiveness.
Nathan McDonald, managing partner at we are social, stated that many firms have come to realise the importance of embracing social media as a way of reaching more customers.
To employ it effectively, marketing professionals must ensure that the messages being spread are consistent with those being delivered in their blogs and other social networks, he added.
"It's very important to align your social media activity with the rest of your marketing activity and not just Twitter, because it is just one part of a wider social media marketing strategy," Mr McDonald stated.
A recent study by the Society for New Communications Research found that Twitter is the most popular social networking site among the Fortune 500 companies.
