A media inventor at Twitter has come up with a tool that lets journalists embed tweets in their news articles.

The Blackbird Pie offering lets users insert tweets directly into their posts rather than copy and pasting content.

Writing for the Guardian's PDA blog, Jemima Kiss said that the tool will be welcome as it means online news stories are less likely to misquote people.

"It's a smart move, not only because it will look strong graphically and act almost like a Twitter banner ad within editorial, but also because it preserves the integrity of the original quote," she explained.

The creator of Blackbird Pie, Robin Sloan, said the aim of the tool was to create a better user experience, as it makes hashtags and accounts more connected and clickable.

However, he stressed that it is not a full Twitter feature as such, emphasising that he came up with the code himself as an experiment that might be useful for those who write content online.
