Websites are likely to see an increase in user generated content (UGC) with the news that blogging activity in the UK is becoming more popular than ever.
A new study from digital analyst Garlik discovered that almost four million Brits - nearly 15 per cent of those using the internet in the UK - are engaged in some form of blogging activity.
And 19 per cent blog at least once a day and spend an average of 30 minutes doing so.
This suggests that British internet users have developed a greater affinity with the notion of UGC on websites and this emerging trend will continue to be a key component to harness in website design in the next decade.
Tom Ilube, Garlik CEO, told Net Imperative: "A fascinating picture of digital Britain is emerging. Brits are interacting with the internet like never before with individuals actively expressing their opinions online.
"With Wales now surpassing London in blogging activity, old stereotypes are being overturned. In many cases it's the individuals you'd least expect causing the biggest stir of activity in the online world."
There were regional and gender differences in blogging activities across the UK also. Women were found to be the most ardent bloggers with 23 per cent doing so each day compared to 17 per cent of men.
Wales emerged as the most popular blogging location in the UK while Yorkshire and the east of England were the least likely to do so.
