Adults are spending 45 minutes more online a day now than a year ago, a new report suggests.

Research released by the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising and assembled by Taylor Nelson Sofres, reveals the average person now spends 1.07 hours online every weekday.

It shows the main reason people go online is to access information, with 60 per cent saying the most common motivation for browsing the web is to find useful content.

This is followed by communication, shopping and keeping in touch with friends and family.

Furthermore, the report shows most popular website among users is Google, followed by the BBC and eBay.

According to analysis published by comScore, in April, people in the UK conducted the most online searches in Europe.

It showed 31 million people made 4.1 billion searches during the single month, noting that Google maintains a dominant market share.

The research firm revealed almost three-quarters of the searches conducted in this country were made through Google and its properties.ADNFCR-1351-ID-18669824-ADNFCR
