Search giant Google has started running trial adverts on a number of pages on the mobile site of YouTube, it has announced.
It explains that this represents its first step in testing mobile advertising on the video sharing site.
A post on the official Google Mobile Blog by Christine Tsai, product marketing manager at YouTube, states: "It will give you a new way to interact with content on the go, while allowing us to learn how video viewers engage with mobile advertising."
She notes that the trial will also allow the firm to learn how video viewers engage with such forms of advertising.
Concluding, Ms Tsai explains that the firm is "excited" to explore new approaches in mobile advertising and plans to evaluate the test over the coming weeks.
In other news, earlier this month, mobile carrier Orange ran what it described as the world's first "in-SMS advertising trial" in Switzerland.
