Microsoft is considering a more in-depth tailored search strategy, it has been announced.
Speaking at the Search Engine Strategies conference in California, Satya Nadella, senior vice-president of the firm's search, portal and advertising platform group, states that the company is looking into understanding what users want.
"I believe this notion of understanding user intent - being able to analyse [search queries] and come up with search patterns and use them to shape the search experience - is one of the most important areas for us," he explained.
Concluding, Mr Nadella stated Microsoft only really began its online search effort around four and a half years ago and that the firm will continue to innovate, attempting to capitalise on "inflection points" where search engine technology evolves, CNET News reports.
Microsoft recently came third in the University of Michigan's American Customer Satisfaction Index, with Google and Yahoo! taking first and second places respectively.
