The latest global e-marketing figures show that the paid online search sector will grow 15 per cent this year, as the global internet advertising market expands by 9.5 per cent overall.
Media buyer ZenithOptimedia's research indicates that the internet display and classified ad sections of online marketing will inflate by six and two per cent respectively in 2009, reports Reuters.
Over the next three years, e-marketing is expected to grow by 12 to 13 per cent.
The study suggests that the internet will be the only advertising medium to expand this calendar year, as the overall global ad market will record a fall of 10.2 per cent by the end of December.
"It is normal for ad expenditure to exaggerate general economic trends - when the economy shrinks, ad expenditure shrinks faster and by more," said the report, before adding that the ad market will outperform the economy once recovery is complete.
The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising and BDO Stoy Hayward Bellwether report, published in October, also revealed positive news for e-marketing. It said that British companies raised their web advertising budgets for the first time in over a year during the third quarter of 2009.
