Now is the time to ensure that online resources are being marketed effectively, a sector commentator has asserted.
Oliver Stephen, managing director of web consultancy firm MBL Solutions, states that this is due to the fact that web commerce is defying the ongoing effects of the credit crunch.
"Evidence suggests that online activity and sales are bucking the downward trend and that's why now is the time to take a fresh look at your website, ensure that you're marketing it effectively, or even decide if you need a new site altogether," he explains.
Mr Stephen notes that search engine optimisation is a marketing strategy which should be taken into consideration as this ensures that people searching for products or services in a firm's sector are able to find them.
He concludes by noting that such optimisation includes the development of good meta descriptions and keywords, as well as high-quality content.
Meanwhile, sector commentator David Meerman Scott writes in the October 2008 issue of Econtent magazine that successful online marketing techniques are "dramatically different" to their traditional counterparts.
