Considering marketing opportunities

A number of business to business (B2B) search marketers are focusing on improving their firms' visibility within vertical search portals, an expert has commented.
Galen De Young, the managing director of Francis SEO, made his comments to Search Engine Land, noting that although such specialised portals receive fewer visitors than their mainstream counterparts, they direct more targeted traffic to websites.
Such search engines offer consumers targeted and relevant results, he continued.
"Good vertical search sites also provide opportunity for B2B marketers, who can generate highly qualified leads and click-through due to the focused demographics of many B2B vertical search sites," Mr De Young added.
Recently, search engine optimisation agency SEOmoz commented in its blog that firms which fail to consider how vertical search is changing the developing industry may find they miss out on marketing opportunities in the future.
The agency has suggested in the past that web search may "fracture" as browsing habits evolve and consumers turn to specialised search engines as a result of their more sophisticated online needs.
