Blogs a 'useful tool for fresh content'

Search engines boost the ranking of websites which offer regularly updated content and blogs are one way of providing fresh information, an expert has claimed.
Jeff Muendel, an analyst for search engine optimisation (SEO) consultancy
Netconcepts, made his comments through an article for
Practical eCommerce.
Not only do corporate blogs ensure the site contains fresh information, they can also generate inbound leads, which also boost a website's ranking, he explained.
"Because search engines tend to reward blogs in several ways, corporate and e-commerce sites ought to look at the possibility of adding one or more blogs," Mr Muendel continued.
However, content must be interesting if it is to have the maximum potential effect, he added.
Later this month, Lee Odden, president of
TopRank Online Marketing, is to speak about the importance of corporate blogging and news sharing at the
Search Engine Strategies 2008 conference in London.
He will discuss how his company used its
Online Marketing Blog to create industry credibility, attract media attention and develop the business.
