Will Google look to promote speedy websites in rankings?

Search engine optimisation (SEO) professionals may need to make greater consideration of speed-related website factors once Google implements its Caffeine update.
This is according to Laurie Sullivan of Search Marketing Daily, who says that Caffeine - an upgrade to Google's search architecture - could result in a greater emphasis on speed for both the engine and marketers.
Google also said last year that landing page loading times can have an effect on quality scores for pay-per-click advertisers.
David Harry, founder of Reliable SEO, said that Caffeine is likely to affect a number of areas of online marketing, including social and real-time search and web analytics.
"Caffeine will work to process things faster, which will give Google new opportunities," he added.
Fresh Business Thinking reported earlier this week that in addition to website speed, quality content is also likely to have a big bearing on the SEO sector this year, according to experts at a recent UKFast roundtable discussion in Manchester.
