Careful use of keywords in terms of search engine optimisation can help improve the quality of traffic being driven to a website, as well as the amount, it has been claimed.

Web development agency Advent Designs made its assertion in an article posted on the PromotionWorld website.

The company explained that by ranking well for a highly relevant word or phrase, the resulting traffic will be more specifically interested in the product or services a website offers.

It added: "Therefore, search engine optimisation or top ranking provides a great leverage over other competitors' websites in terms of increasing the traffic."

WebPageOne Solutions has published some advice on the importance of relevant keywords, suggesting that a searcher who is offered good quality content which is useful to their query may then choose to purchase goods or services from that company.
