Writing a long piece of copy as part of a business to business (B2B) search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy is a good thing, an industry commentator explains.

Galen DeYoung makes his assertions on web resource Search Engine Land, noting that such content provides marketers with the opportunity to explain attributes and benefits of products and services which may not be readily apparent to consumers.

"Longer copy is also good for the search engines. It gives them a better opportunity to assess the focus of the page and the depth of information on the page," he adds.

When writing lengthier copy, it should be broken up with keyword-rich headers, Mr DeYoung continues.

He also recommends including captions for images, as the nature of B2B products may not be immediately apparent from a picture.

As such, a single line or short paragraph, which includes keywords, is beneficial.

"Good B2B copywriting uses captions as another opportunity to sell to the prospect and another opportunity to influence search results," Mr DeYoung concludes.

In recent weeks, a post on Yahoo!'s Search Marketing Blog by the search engine company's Smart Start Team recommended keywords are grouped in the most effective fashion possible.ADNFCR-1351-ID-18796388-ADNFCR
