Choose realistic keywords

It is essential businesses select realistic keywords to try and rank highly for, marketers have been warned.
Search marketing agency Latitude Group told small business portal bytestart.co.uk that picking highly competitive and generic keywords is a common mistake made by firms seeking to increase their search engine optimisation.
It recommended they consider how competitors are using SEO tactics, suggesting firms learn from their peers.
However, the agency urged marketers not to stray into black-hat tactics, suggesting they only use strategies considered to be ethical by search engines.
"Search engine algorithms are getting better and better at detecting techniques used to purposely manipulate their algorithm. Read their guidelines and stay within them," Latitude Group added.
Earlier this month, industry commentator Neeraj Srivastava, writing for Small Business Informer, urged marketers not to attempt to fool the search engines using tactics such as keyword stuffing.
Instead, firms should concentrate on building links, ensuring their websites are easily crawled by the search engines and filled with unique and useful content, which naturally uses certain keywords.
