Relevant website content is a necessity when it comes to search engine optimisation (SEO), it has been suggested.
Highly relevant web pages can help both human users and search engines to quickly determine what the site is about, according to Gary Reid of .net magazine.
He suggested placing keywords in the meta tags for page titles and ensuring these terms are as close together as possible, although he said most cases will not require keywords to be "stuffed" into titles, headings and initial text.
"It's better to write naturally," Mr Reid commented, going on to advise marketers to ensure all meta titles are unique to each page and to add a primary keyword to the H1 meta heading.
"Then write the rest of the headings and content naturally while considering how you can work in the other, niche/long tail keywords," he suggested.
Last year, a study by Yahoo! indicated that 88 per cent of web users automatically block out irrelevant information when surfing the internet.
