The ongoing importance of search engine optimisation (SEO) has been highlighted by news that Confused.com has enlisted the help of industry specialist Neutralize to improve its visibility.

The price comparison site operates in a highly competitive market and, with an exclusively online business, Confused.com has recognised the need to optimise its search engine ranking.

Business development manager at Neutralize Ben Martin has commented on the services offered as part of a media strategy.

"They have embraced all of our architectural suggestions, social media strategies and in-house tools," said Mr Martin.

A further advantage of SEO use has been discussed by an industry expert, who has claimed that the creation of positive press through such means can counteract negative news, deeming updated links "essential".

Chief executive of Apogee Search William Leake wrote on his blog that the "stain" of bad press can be overcome by enhancing positive results when consumers search under keywords.
