Search engines 'improving online content'

The demands of search engine algorithms are creating a world of useful web content for the consumer, an expert has asserted.
Search marketer Stuart Tofts made his comments through the blog of search engine optimisation agency
SEOptimise, suggesting that portals such as Google are helping to create an "online elite" of high-ranking firms offering useful information.
As search engines usually use indicators like the number of inbound links and how often a site offers new content to determine its position in the results, websites which hope to rank highly have to post interesting and valuable data, he explained.
"By ensuring only websites containing useful information or selling popular products and services penetrate the important results page one, search engines have almost created an elite upper layer of the internet," Mr Tofts added.

Furthermore, the company urges marketers to ensure their sitemaps are current and consider using less competitive keywords for their strategies to further aid their rankings.
