Where a company ranks in search engine results will make or break a business, an expert has commented.

Patricia Montes, of WorldWide Optimize, has commented that she disagrees with those who believe that the need for search engine optimisation (SEO) depends on the website and business.

In fact, SEO is "high quality marketing" for any firm, she insisted.

Ms Montes explained: "With regular, everyday advertising, you are only reaching the area within the boundary that you advertise in. With [SEO] ... you are literally advertising to the world - an endless opportunity for success!"

However, the SEO expert cautioned that a website which lacks fresh content and up-to-date information is unlikely to benefit from optimisation as pages require "professionally written and fresh" copy.

Online marketing agency SEOptimise encourages marketers to consider optimising their websites by highlighting that more than 21 billion online pages are battling for consumer attention.

It indicates that 90 per cent of those online use search engines to discover websites.ADNFCR-1351-ID-18565714-ADNFCR
