It may be a good idea for website owners to incorporate more audio and video content into their pages to boost search engine rankings.
This is the suggestion of Ivan Croxford, general manager of BT Tradespace, who told the Times that videos and audio files could do much to enhance search engine optimisation(SEO) - particularly practical content like product demonstrations.
He went on to highlight the general benefits of using online video to attract consumers to a website - something that could then serve to enhance conversions.
"People who view video will generally click through to other content much more than people who just look at text," he stated.
According to Forrester Research, videos are 50 times more likely to be featured in the top ten Google results than text content.
Ways in which companies could improve their video SEO include placing keywords in filenames and embedding clips into the most relevant text pages of the website in question.
