Search engine optimisation importance

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is "critical" for online businesses as they need to rank highly to maintain visibility, an expert has explained.
Jemima Kiss, a digital publishing specialist with MediaGuardian.co.uk, told the online publication that it is difficult to exaggerate how important search engines are in terms of the traffic a website achieves.
While initial changes can be made to a website's design to help it become more attractive to search engines, SEO mainly involves adding content to a website, she continued.
"Content - particularly headlines - needs to be descriptive and literal, using keywords consumers are likely to use," Ms Kiss added.
One possible reason for the rising importance of SEO is the increasing number of searches UK residents undertake each month.
Information released by comScore earlier this year revealed that British web users conducted more searches than consumers in any other country during April.
The research showed that 31.2 million individuals made 4.1 billion searches during that one month alone.
