SEO product reveals competitors' tactics

A search engine optimisation (SEO) company has launched a new product which allows marketers to discover the tactics their competitors are using and respond accordingly.

Digital agency Top Position reports that its new service goes beyond mirroring competitors' approaches in helping clients boost their SEO.

Rebecca Appleton, head of search at the agency, said it uses an "arsenal" of software and research tactics to discover how a competitor is maintaining an SEO advantage.

"This information is then compiled and resulting search marketing strategies executed, neutralising advantages and closing the gap to industry counterparts," she claimed.

According to market research firm e-consultancy, original content is a good way for marketers to boost their SEO rating.

Such marketing is not just attractive to Google but to searchers and can attract links which also help boost SEO positioning.

Additionally, investing in unique content can benefit other areas of the business by building a "valuable intellectual property asset", e-consultancy argues.
