SEO strategies 'should focus on business blogs'

Companies would do well to place their
blog at the heart of their
search engine optimisation (
SEO) strategy, according to one expert.
Writing for MyCustomer.com, Richie Jones of Bristol agency
Yucca noted that self-hosted business
blogs can offer a viable way of enhancing search rankings through
SEO.
Successful
blogs will offer fresh, relevant content that is written in a style likely to resonate with the company's core customer base, he suggested.
It is a good idea for marketers to ensure they plan out their
blog content in advance and to make sure posts include a mixture of links to other sites, industry commentary and repeat content on particular subjects, Mr Jones said.
"Try and make each
blog post really relevant to what is going on that week in your sector," he advised.
"It is a great opportunity to really show off to potential and existing clients how fresh and innovative your business is."
According to Technorati's 2008 State of the Blogosphere report, 12 per cent of those who write
blogs do so in an official capacity for their company.
Almost seven in ten of these corporate
bloggers also run other
blogs on a personal basis.
