Search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques are growing increasingly elegant and complex, but many brand marketers are overlooking simple strategies that could enhance their rankings, it has been noted.
Writing on online resource DMNews, sector commentator Bryan Howe explains one such approach is to use popular keywords which are relevant to a business in a website or landing page's URL.
He urges marketers not to be fooled by the simplicity of this approach, adding "this strategy works".
Continuing, Mr Howe explains SEO marketers and business owners tend to overlook such tactics, which can potentially open a window of opportunity for smaller firms trying to enhance their position in the search engine rankings.
"While there is tremendous allure in developing complex SEO tactics ... it's important not to forget simple strategies," he concludes.
Meanwhile, a post on Google's webmaster central blog by trends analyst Jonathan Simon and tools intern Michael Williamson note a new offering from the search engine firm could help companies discover the source of crawl errors.
