Some 84 per cent of marketers from travel firms have said
search engine optimisation (SEO) is their top priority for web content budgets, according to a new survey.
In 2008, 67 per cent of respondents to the study - undertaken by digital travel online content group Frommer's Unlimited and global travel news service TravelMole - said
SEO was their main concern.
This year's research found that 57 per cent of marketers are planning to raise spending on
SEO in the coming 12 months - this is down ten per cent from last year.
The travel company survey also indicated that unique content and destination content are also of high importance for marketers in the industry.
Indeed, 81 per cent of respondents are making plans to introduce unique content this year, which is nearly double the number who expressed a similar sentiment in 2008.
Murray Etheridge from Canadian
web marketing and development firm ISL recently told the Moncton Times and Transcript that businesses must first understand their customers when developing
SEO strategies - this is the initial step to a successful project.
