Consumers prefer organic search results to pay-per-click (PPC) advertising as they perceive it to be more trustworthy, a new report has revealed.

The 2008 Search Attitudes Report, commissioned by digital marketing agency Tamar, has found that two in three consumers consider organic search results to be more independent.

Furthermore, it revealed that more than half of UK consumers understand the differences between paid and natural results and nine in ten people prefer to click on the links produced by the search engine's algorithms.

"Independence was closely followed [by] the perception that natural search results are more likely to give the consumer what they are looking for," the report explained.

Earlier this week, internet marketing commentator Thomas Pretty remarked in an article for BlueCollarSEO that the way to rise within organic rankings is to fill a site with "content, content, content".

He explained that both search engine spiders and human internet users are looking for good quality and relevant information, making regularly updated and appropriate copy an important aspect of any website.ADNFCR-1351-ID-18596614-ADNFCR
