Video 'becoming a popular tool'

The success of online communities such as YouTube shows that video is an increasingly popular means of communicating, an expert has claimed.

Ben Potter, spokesman for online marketing agency Leapfrogg, made his comments following the announcement that his firm would be supporting Absolute Brighton TV as it seeks to develop its brand as an online lifestyle channel.

"With the arrival of Ask 3D and Google Universal, video presents the opportunity for businesses to gain a presence across the major search engines in a new and more creative way," he stated.

Furthermore, Leapfrogg will help aim to Absolute Brighton TV develop and maintain a strong search engine position, which it claims is "integral" to its success.

Google Universal refers to plans by the search engine giant to allow users to search across all content sources, including video, images, maps, news and books as well as websites.

Marissa Mayer, vice president of search products and user experience at Google, said the company wants to "break down the silos of information" which fill the web.
