A new agreement between Yahoo! and Twitter could have implications for businesses' online marketing operations.

The two firms have partnered to integrate Twitter content into Yahoo!'s range of web properties.

As the agreement includes sending real-time Twitter updates to Yahoo! Search, the deal could be one to watch for those involved with search engine optimisation.

The partnership will see users able to view their Twitter feeds from a number of Yahoo! sites and share Yahoo! content via their Twitter stream.

Advertisers should be able to benefit from the deeper engagement this will bring, Yahoo! says.

"We're turning the key to the online social universe - you will find the most personally relevant experiences through Yahoo!," said Bryan Lamkin, senior vice-president of the consumer products group at Yahoo!.

Twitter recently announced that its users now make 50 million posts every day - a significant increase compared with the 5,000 tweets a day made back in 2007.
