Yahoo!'s mobile search facilities can now be accessed by 600 million subscribers, it has been claimed.
David Ko, Asia managing director and vice-president of Yahoo!'s mobile division, made his comments to Reuters following the announcement that a further six Asian telecoms firms will now offer the search service.
Speaking at a media briefing, Mr Ko added: "This creates the scale to make mobile advertising attractive."
Furthermore, he predicted that mobile advertising spending is likely to reach $16.2 billion (£8.3 billion) during 2011, a considerable increase from the $1.5 billion spent in 2006, the news agency reported.
Earlier this week, it emerged that Google is the leading provider of mobile search, securing a 61 per cent audience share during the first three months of the year.
Yahoo! came second in the
Nielson Mobile analysis, possessing 18 per cent of the market, meaning just under eight in ten mobile internet searches are made using one of the two.
